The grand 1765 townhouse of Samuel Powel, the last colonial and first American mayor of Philadelphia, where Washington and Adams dined. Saved from the wrecking ball and run now as a museum, it carries some of the oldest ghost stories in the city, a woman in beige on the stair, the rustle of colonial skirts in empty rooms.
