The great fortress prison of Philadelphia, opened in 1829 to reform men through total solitude and silence, a system that broke minds instead. Al Capone did time here. Abandoned in 1971 and left to crumble, its long stone cellblocks are now a preserved ruin and one of the most reported haunted sites in America, running history tours and a famous Halloween attraction.
