Club 49 Prospecting (“Club 49,” “we,” “us”) provides a free, members-only research map for gold prospecting in Northern California. By using club49.app you agree to these terms.
The app, map layers, honey-hole scores, and all content are provided as-is for research and education. We make no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. Public datasets and models can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Always verify ownership, claim status, access, and regulations on the ground.
Nothing here is mining, geological, financial, legal, or safety advice. Honey holes are modeled predictions, not verified deposits. Never enter abandoned mines or shafts. Respect private property and active mining claims.
AI assistant: the in-app AI produces modeled, best-effort suggestions from public data and what is on your screen. It can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, is not advice, and must be verified on the ground before you rely on it. Your questions are processed by a third-party AI model provider to generate the reply (see the Privacy Policy). Do not enter personal, financial, or sensitive information into the assistant.
Gold prospecting and backcountry travel are inherently dangerous. Rivers and cold water, old mines and shafts, cliffs and loose ground, weather, wildlife, remote terrain with no cell service, and the drive itself can cause serious injury or death. You take part entirely at your own risk and are solely responsible for your own safety, preparation, equipment, fitness, and decisions. Know your limits, check conditions and the law, tell someone your plan, and turn back when in doubt.
Never operate this app while driving. Any mode of this app, including “Car Mode,” is for a passenger or for a vehicle that is parked. This is a map companion; it is not a navigation system and gives no driving directions. You are solely responsible for complying with all distracted-driving and hands-free laws. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Club 49 and its operator from any liability arising from use of the app in, around, or in connection with the operation of any vehicle.
Every location layer on the map is drawn from records that government agencies and open-data projects already publish and that are public by law (see the Privacy Policy for the source-by-source detail). A marker is a public data point, never permission to enter land. Mines, wells, springs, swimming holes and similar features can sit on or near private property; you must verify ownership, posted signs, claims, and the law before visiting anything, and you are solely responsible for where you go. If you believe a mapped item relates to your property and want it reviewed, member or not, email [email protected]; we review promptly and honor lawful removal requests.
Expeditions, crews, jobs, shared spots, and any meetups or trips are organized by members, not by Club 49. We do not arrange, lead, supervise, vet, background-check, endorse, insure, or guarantee any member, expedition, crew, charter, pledge, reward, or trip. Any “charter,” “pledge,” or agreement is solely between the members involved; Club 49 is not a party to it and does not enforce it. Meet in public first, verify who you are dealing with, share your plans, and use your own judgment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Club 49 is not responsible or liable for any injury, death, loss, theft, dispute, unmet promise, property damage, or other harm arising from expeditions, crews, meetups, partnerships, or anything members arrange through the app.
Membership is free. We may approve, suspend, or remove accounts at our discretion to protect the club and its members. You are responsible for your posts, photos, messages, and listings. Club 49 does not handle payments between members.
By posting finds, photos, journal entries, or listings you grant Club 49 a non-exclusive license to display that content to other members as the app is designed to do. Do not post exact coordinates of sensitive spots unless you intend to share them. Do not post illegal, harassing, or misleading content. Reviews, suggestions, and feedback you send us may be used to improve the app without obligation or compensation; they are anonymous and are never published.
Do not scrape, bulk-download, or resell premium member data. Do not attempt to bypass membership gates or disrupt the service. Automated spam (including contact form abuse) is prohibited.
The gold price shown is informational only, comes from a third-party source, may be delayed or inaccurate, and is not investment, trading, or financial advice. Club 49 is not a broker, dealer, or trading venue and does not buy, sell, or appraise gold. Links to external markets or other sites are provided for convenience only; we do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Club 49 and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential injury, death, loss, fines, claim disputes, property damage, or other harm arising from your use of the app, its data or links, or any interaction, transaction, expedition, or trip with other members. You agree to indemnify and hold Club 49 and its operators harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the app, your content, or your conduct on any trip, expedition, or meetup. If you are dissatisfied, your sole remedy is to stop using the app.
Club 49 is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the USGS, BLM, USDA, NOAA, the State of California, or any government agency. Government data is used under public-domain / open terms; map basemaps are USGS/USDA public-domain tiles. Other marks belong to their owners.
You must be at least 13 years old (and have a parent or guardian’s permission if under 18) to create an account.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
We may update these terms. We will note material changes and ask you to re-accept them in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
