The Cubs trained here for thirty seasons; the stadium came down in 1966

Long before it meant Chicago, Wrigley Field meant this: a ballpark on Catalina where the Cubs came for spring training every year from 1921 to 1951, minus the war years of 1942 to 1945. William Wrigley Jr owned the team and the island both, so he brought one to the other. The stadium opened in 1921 and was pulled down in 1966, so there is nothing left to tour, but the ground held thirty seasons of a major league club getting ready for the year.
