One of the most generous mineral localities in America: a lithium-rich pegmatite near Dixon, New Mexico, that the owner, a University of New Mexico professor, deeded to the public for education. You sign a waiver and collect for free, spodumene in giant crystals, pink lepidolite mica, apatite, beryl and rose muscovite. It is a working teaching site, so the rules (no blasting, fill your holes) matter. PUBLIC collecting with a signed waiver, Taos County.
