One of the most authentically dangerous rooms in the Old West. The St. James at Cimarron, New Mexico, opened in 1872 on the Santa Fe Trail, and at least 26 men were killed in it, the ceiling of the dining room still carries bullet holes. Jesse James, Wyatt Earp, Annie Oakley and the outlaw Clay Allison all passed through. Room 18 is kept permanently closed, said to hold an angry spirit; the hotel leans into its history rather than hiding it. PUBLIC hotel, Cimarron.
