Postojna Cave

Slovenia

One of the most famous caves in the world, and one of the few you tour by train, an electric railway runs two kilometres into the Slovenian karst before you walk the rest. Twenty-four kilometres of passage, immense chambers, and its most famous resident: the olm, a blind, pale, cave-dwelling salamander that can live a hundred years, once thought to be a baby dragon. PUBLIC, open year round.
