Two towns called Bodie, a third gone quiet, and a mine that is private ground
An inactive gold mine on Toroda Road, sitting in a triangle of vanished places: Wauconda on one corner, the original town of Bodie on another, and the later ghost town of Bodie on the third. Wauconda was a boom town once and has dwindled to almost nothing, held now under a single owner, so this whole corner of Okanogan County reads as a slow emptying rather than one dramatic bust. THE MINE IS PRIVATELY OWNED. It is worth knowing about and worth looking at from the road, and it is not yours to walk into. Not the Bodie most people mean, either: the famous one is in California and is on this map separately.
