A White Mountains ghost town that still reported two people in 2020
A logging town went up in the White Mountains in the late 1800s, run by the Saunders brothers and named for a senator who happened to be the grandfather of one of their wives. It worked into the early 1900s and then stopped. What makes Livermore worth the walk is that it still exists on paper: an unincorporated township that reported a population of two at the 2020 census. The site is about sixteen miles west of North Conway and a mile and a half off Route 302, up the Sawyer River Road.
