Nine levels and 300 kilometres of passage under Poland, mined continuously from the 1200s to 1996, and carved by the miners themselves into an underground world: chapels, chandeliers and statues all cut from salt, including the vast Chapel of St. Kinga 100 metres down. A UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the great underground places on the planet. PUBLIC tours daily, near Krakow.
