The Mogok valley in Myanmar is the source of the finest rubies ever found, the “pigeon’s blood” stones that set the world standard, and the Hpakant mines to the north produce nearly all the top imperial jadeite on Earth. Be clear-eyed: this trade is entangled with conflict, forced labour and deadly landslides, and many countries restrict or ban Burmese stones. A heritage/geology pin, with the ethics stated plainly.
