A wild lava tube on BLM land twenty minutes southeast of Bend, free and open with no gate, no lights and no guide: a steel stair drops you into a collapse and about 1,880 feet of tube runs off into the dark. The floor is broken breakdown, so it is ankle country. Bring THREE light sources, a helmet and a partner, and tell someone where you went. PUBLIC (BLM), Deschutes County.
