The Hopewell Rocks and the Fundy tides

The Bay of Fundy moves more water twice a day than every river on Earth combined, and the tide here runs up to sixteen metres. At Hopewell the sea has cut the cliff into free-standing flowerpot stacks with trees on top: at low tide you walk the ocean floor around their feet, and six hours later you can kayak past the same treetops. The rock is soft conglomerate and it is actively falling apart, which is why a stack collapsed in 2016. Stairs and tide times are posted and enforced. PUBLIC provincial park.
