The star-shaped stone fortress on the hill over Halifax has guarded the great harbour since the 1700s, and its long dark casemates and powder magazines are among the most reputedly haunted military ground in Canada, a soldier who never left his post, a woman in Victorian black, the ghost of Halifax’s hangings.
