A hand-cut cave in soft Dakota sandstone under Lincoln, Nebraska, enlarged in the 1860s as a brewery cellar and used since as a hideout story, a Prohibition speakeasy, a mushroom farm and a fraternity initiation site. Jesse James is said to have used it, which is said about a great many caves. What is genuinely there is a century and a half of carved names in the walls, some of them dated before 1900. Reopened for guided tours after decades closed. PRIVATE, tours only.
