The territorial capital, uninhabited, standing in its own park
The capital of the Alabama Territory, on the Tombigbee about 67 miles north of Mobile. When the capital moved and the transport routes changed with it, the old site emptied out completely, and it is uninhabited today while a newer St. Stephens carries on nearby. The original ground is now Old St. Stephens Historical Park and is on the National Register, so you can walk the place where the territory was governed from.
