One hundred and fifty people, then three, then none
A zinc and lead town in Ottawa County that no longer has anybody in it. The census counted 150 people in 2000, three in April 2010, and by that November the population was listed as zero. Cardin lies inside the Tar Creek Superfund site, designated in 1983 for contamination extensive enough that the answer in the end was to buy people out and move them. This is not a town that faded when the ore ran out; it is a town that could not be lived in.
