The tallest lighthouse in the country, and it has been moved twice
At 210 feet from base to tip this is the tallest lighthouse in the United States, standing at Buxton on Hatteras Island inside the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It was first built in 1802 and has been moved twice since, because the coast it warns ships away from keeps eroding out from under it. The black and white barber-pole spiral makes it unmistakable from miles out.
