An 1796 plantation house north of Baton Rouge, called one of the most haunted homes in America, whose best-known ghost is Chloe, an enslaved woman of legend said to walk the grounds in a green turban. The real history of the place is grim enough without embroidery. It runs as an inn and a tour; you can sleep inside the story.
