The most famous haunting in American history happened on the Bell farm at Adams from 1817 to 1821: an unseen thing that called itself Kate tormented John Bell to his death, spoke aloud to visitors, and is the only ghost a court is said to have blamed for a killing. The cave on the old property runs tours now, and people still swear something follows them out of it. A log cabin and the cave stand on the ground.
