A small pegmatite in North Groton with an outsized reputation: Palermo No. 1 is one of the most important phosphate mineral localities on Earth and the type locality for a string of species that were first described from this hole in the ground. Collectors come from other continents for it. It is PRIVATE ground and access has varied over the years, so the honest route is to contact the owners or go through a mineral club rather than turn up with a hammer.
