A prehistoric spring in an underground cavern near Williston, reached down a stairway into the rock, where a shaft of daylight falls on a pool of blue water kept a steady 72 degrees year round. Ice-age fossils have come out of it. Snorkelers and divers book in to swim in the ancient room; the name comes from the steam that rises from the chimney on cold mornings like a devil breathing.
