The Menehune

Small people said to have built fishponds and watercourses in a single night, then vanished before dawn. The Alekoko fishpond wall on Kaua’i is credited to them and is genuinely old, genuinely well built, and of uncertain origin. An 1820 census of Kaua’i recorded sixty-five people who called themselves Menehune.
