A hole in flat ground that collected Ice Age animals for tens of thousands of years

A pit cave in the Bighorn Mountains with a mouth in flat ground and a drop beyond it, which is why the name is literal: animals fell in and could not get out. What that left is one of the richest sources of Late Pleistocene material in North America, layer on layer of bones from creatures that walked into a hole in the prairie over tens of thousands of years. This is a research site with a sheer drop, NOT somewhere to climb into.
