The Lucala river goes over a 400 metre wide lip and drops 105 metres, and by volume it is one of the biggest waterfalls in Africa. In the wet season the spray comes back up the gorge hard enough to soak the viewpoints. It was called the Duque de Bragança falls under the Portuguese and carries its own name now.
