On 4 August 1892 Andrew and Abby Borden were killed with a hatchet in this house in broad daylight, and Andrew’s daughter Lizzie was tried and acquitted in a trial that gripped the country. Nobody else was ever charged. The house on Second Street is now a museum and a bed and breakfast, furnished to match the crime-scene photographs, and you can sleep in it if you want to. PUBLIC tours daily; book well ahead for the overnight.
