The grand 1926 hotel in Coral Gables with the tallest tower in the region, a Jazz Age playground that became a military hospital in the war and is said never to have emptied of its dead. The best-known ghost is Fatty Walsh, a gangster shot on the thirteenth floor in 1929, who still rides the elevators and toys with the lights. A working luxury hotel; the lobby alone is worth the walk.
