A ghost town in Morton County founded in 1883, and the one place in North Dakota that carries a reputation of this kind. The Scandinavian Lutheran church went up here, with its parsonage in 1884, and while the rest of the town fell away the church did not: local Almont residents won a grant to restore the buildings in 2002, the congregation still worships every other Sunday, and the restored parsonage now holds the Sims Historical Society Museum. Laura Bush toured it in October 2008. The honest draw is a ghost town whose church never stopped. PUBLIC site, and it is a working congregation, so go gently on a Sunday.
