The only petrified forest in the eastern United States, at Flora: giant logs of stone, ancient trees washed down a prehistoric river 36 million years ago and turned to agate and jasper. A registered National Natural Landmark with a nature trail and a rock shop; you cannot take the park logs, but the surrounding gravel country gives up petrified wood and agate.
