Bancroft, the mineral capital of Canada

Amazonite, sodalite, apatite

Bancroft calls itself the Mineral Capital of Canada and earns it: the pegmatites and marble of the region hold more than 1,600 mineral occurrences, blue sodalite, green amazonite, red garnet, apatite, and the town throws the Rockhound Gemboree, the biggest gem show in the country, every summer, with public collecting sites and mine tours. A rockhound pilgrimage.
