The most famous cave in Missouri, the “Cave State,” which holds more than 7,500 caves, second only to Tennessee. Five levels of passage in the Ozark limestone, with the giant Stage Curtain flowstone, used as a saltpeter mine in the Civil War and, the legend goes, as a hideout by Jesse James.
