Kaieteur Falls

Guyana

A single unbroken drop of 226 metres, about five times Niagara, pouring off a sandstone plateau in the middle of Guyana’s untouched rainforest, with no rail, no crowd and no town, just the river going over the edge. Behind the curtain live swifts that roost in the gorge, and the tiny golden frog lives its whole life in the giant tank bromeliads at the lip. Reached by light aircraft or a hard multi-day trek. PUBLIC national park, Guyana.
