The Wendigo

The Algonquin and Ojibwe peoples of the northern forests have always warned of the Wendigo, a gaunt, ravenous spirit of winter and starvation that possesses those who turn to eating human flesh to survive the long cold, and grows more starved the more it eats. It is one of the oldest and most feared legends of the north woods, and the boreal country it haunts, black spruce and muskeg for hundreds of miles, is real and unforgiving.
