Norway’s trolls are woven into the actual map: Trollstigen (the troll’s ladder), Trolltunga (the troll’s tongue), Trollveggen (the troll wall, Europe’s tallest vertical rock face). In the folklore they are creatures of the mountain and the night who turn to stone in sunlight, which is how the sagas explain the extraordinary rock pillars and faces of the fjord country. The landscape is the legend here, and every one of those places is real and hikeable.
