The Lemurians of Mount Shasta

One of the strangest legends in the state holds that survivors of a lost continent called Lemuria live inside Mount Shasta in a hidden crystal city named Telos. The idea grew out of turn-of-the-century occult writing (the book "A Dweller on Two Planets") and later Rosicrucian teaching, and it still draws seekers and annual pilgrimages to the mountain. This is spiritual folklore, not geology.
