The Bermuda Triangle’s Pacific twin, south of Tokyo around the Izū Islands, also called the Dragon’s Triangle. The catch is a good one: when Larry Kusche went looking in the 1970s and rang Japanese government offices, nobody there had heard of a danger area at all, and the story appears to have been invented about twenty years after the 1952 loss that supposedly proved it. The genuinely hazardous water is a patch roughly ten miles across near Myōjin-shō, and it is dangerous for an entirely real reason: it is an active undersea volcano, which is what destroyed the survey ship Kaiyō Maru. Most of the other losses were small fishing boats with poor radios in bad weather.
