Sedona and the red rock country

The pink and red towers around Sedona are the Schnebly Hill Formation, a sandstone laid down in the Permian and part of the Supai Group, and they are worth the drive on their own terms. The town is also the best-known New Age destination in the United States: the Harmonic Convergence was organised here in 1987, and some proponents hold that spiritual vortices concentrate at Bell Rock, Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock and Boynton Canyon. That is a claim made about the place rather than a finding, and it is offered here as such. What is not in dispute is that those four spots are among the finest short hikes in Arizona.
