The odd thing about the Canmore Opera House is that it is in Calgary. Built in 1910 as a concert hall in the coal town it is named for, and said to have served as a morgue at some point in its working life, the whole building was lifted and moved to Heritage Park in Calgary, which is where you will find it. What people report inside is in keeping with what it was: apparitions of miners as well as performers, singing with no singer, and a piano playing itself. It is a log building that has outlived its town’s coal industry, been picked up and set down 100 kilometres away, and still has people in the seats, which is most of a ghost story before anybody mentions a ghost.
