Haunted place

Tahawus, the deserted village

Upper Works, Newcomb (Essex County, NY)

Twice a town and twice abandoned, deep in the Adirondack High Peaks. First an iron settlement called Adirondac in the 1830s and 40s, whose stone blast furnace still stands in the woods; then a 20th-century titanium-mining company town, emptied by the 1960s. A few ghost buildings and the great furnace remain at the end of a long dead-end road below Mount Marcy.
