The most complete convict site in Australia, and one of the most reputedly haunted places in the southern hemisphere. Between 1830 and 1877 this beautiful harbour in Tasmania held one of the harshest penal stations in the British Empire, including the “Separate Prison” built on the theory that total silence and isolation would reform men, and which broke a good many minds instead. A UNESCO World Heritage site that runs lantern-lit ghost tours over very real suffering. PUBLIC, Tasmania.
