On the Calle de las Brujas in La Paz, Bolivia, yatiri healers sell the materials of Aymara ritual: herbs, amulets, soapstone charms and, most strikingly, dried llama foetuses, buried in the foundations of new buildings as an offering to Pachamama, the earth mother, for protection. It is a living practice, not a curiosity shop, and it sits in a city built into a canyon at 3,600 metres. PUBLIC street market.
