A concrete flying saucer abandoned on a 1,400-metre Bulgarian peak. Built in 1981 as the Communist Party’s monumental hall and left to rot after 1989, its roof is open to the sky, its mosaics of Lenin and Marx are peeling in the wind, and ice forms inside it in winter. One of the eeriest ruins in Europe. Officially CLOSED and genuinely unsafe inside; the exterior and the road up are public.
