Tsumeb

Dioptase, azurite, many rare species

One of the greatest mineral localities in the history of the world. The Tsumeb mine in Namibia, worked for copper and lead, produced the most beautiful specimens ever found of dozens of species, blazing green dioptase, deep-blue azurite, and rare minerals in a variety and quality unmatched anywhere, over 300 species in all. The mine is closed and flooded, but Tsumeb material is the crown of every great mineral collection on Earth. A place of pilgrimage in name if not in access.
