The Larvik region of southern Norway gives the world larvikite, the shimmering blue-grey “blue pearl granite” that faces buildings on every continent, and Norway also produces thulite, a rose-pink zoisite named for the mythical Thule. The Oslo rift around here is a classic mineral province, rich in rare species and famous among collectors. Quarries are PRIVATE/industrial; material is widely sold.
