Akiyoshidō

Japan

The largest limestone cave in Japan, running for miles under the Akiyoshidai plateau in Yamaguchi, with a river, terraced pools (the “Hundred Plates”), and a constant cool 17 degrees. A lift connects it to the karst plateau above, one of the great limestone landscapes of Asia. PUBLIC, open year round.
