The Lost Breyfogle ledge

Nevada · Amargosa country east of Death Valley (Nye County, NV)

Nevada's founding lost-mine story: around 1864 Jacob Breyfogle staggered out of the Death Valley and Amargosa country half-dead, carrying ore so rich it started a verb, to go Breyfogling. He led party after party back into the desert east of Death Valley and never relocated the ledge; men kept Breyfogling for a century. Some hold the Johnnie district finds were his ledge, most hold it is still out there.
