The Ararat anomaly

Turkey · Mount Ararat, Agri (Turkey)
The Ararat anomaly
Unknown · Public domain · source

Turkey’s highest mountain, 5,137 metres of ice, and the place Genesis names as the ark’s landing. Expeditions have gone up since the 1800s, and aerial photographs from the 1940s and 50s showing a dark shape in the ice on the northwest face, released decades later, launched a whole search industry. Nothing produced has survived scrutiny, and geologists read the feature as rock and ice. Kept here as an extraordinary mountain with a genuine expedition record, and told honestly: nobody has found a boat. Climbing needs a permit and a guide.
