Sasquatch, the wild man of the woods

The Pacific Northwest’s giant has its heartland in the wet, immense coastal forests of British Columbia, and the name we use, Sasquatch, is an anglicization of a Halkomelem word, sásq’ets. The Sts’ailes people and many other First Nations have told of the hairy giant since long before Europeans arrived, and BC named a provincial park for it near Harrison Hot Springs. No body has ever been produced, and the honest reading is misidentification and folklore, but the tradition is ancient and the forest it haunts is real and vast enough to hide anything.
