The Rougarou

Documented folklore from the Club 49 map, told straight and sourced.

The story

Down the Cajun bayous they warn children of the Rougarou, a werewolf that prowls the swamps and the cane fields, a man cursed to run as a wolf-thing for a year if he breaks Lent or crosses the wrong hoodoo. Mothers used the story to keep children from the water’s edge; grown men still glance twice at a shape in the marsh at dusk. Pure Cajun-French folklore, riding on real, drowning-dangerous swamp.

The ground it haunts

The Cajun bayou country (Terrebonne / Lafourche, LA). Source: Cajun-French werewolf folklore, told as exactly that. The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
