Documented folklore from the Club 49 map, told straight and sourced.
Nevada's founding lost-mine story: around 1864 Jacob Breyfogle staggered out of the Death Valley and Amargosa country half-dead, carrying ore so rich it started a verb, to go Breyfogling. He led party after party back into the desert east of Death Valley and never relocated the ledge; men kept Breyfogling for a century. Some hold the Johnnie district finds were his ledge, most hold it is still out there.
Amargosa country east of Death Valley (Nye County, NV). Source: Nevada mining folklore since the 1860s; the man and the searches are documented. The Club 49 map pins this legend at its documented country, beside the real mines, active claims, land status and modeled honey holes of the same ground. Open the free map and go stand in the story.
